IF-02-01 Identifying and prioritising opportunities

The overall performance improvement loop consists of four iterative steps:

  1. Identifying issues and opportunities either from top down requirements (e.g., strategy deployment directives, benchmarking) or bottom up operational issues and observations (e.g., field observations, operator experience or suggestions, process confirmations)
  2. Problem solving the issues at a root cause level to stop them from re-occurring;
  3. Prioritising the opportunities; and,
  4. Defining and implementing the countermeasures – or solutions – for each of these prioritised opportunities.

This learning session is focused on the first three steps of this improvement loop.

These steps are part of an iterative improvement loop as the operation continues, more issues and opportunities present themselves and need to be problem solved, prioritised, and implemented.
