IF-02-03 Implementation planning

An implementation plan:

  • Provides key stakeholders with sufficient information to make a ‘Go’, ‘No Go’ decision (to determine if the initiative should proceed into implementation)
  • Enables stakeholders to understand resourcing requirements
  • Provides stakeholders with a high level workplan allowing stakeholders to see what is actually involved in implementing the initiative
  • Enables progress tracking during implementation

Key components of a good implementation plan include:

  • -Detailed description of current state and future state
  • ‘Measures of success’ defining the goals of the initiative
  • Tasks and milestones defining the work plan
  • Key risks identifying major risks and mitigating actions to address those risks
  • Agreed sponsor and initiative owner
